OK, I am officially disgusted

I know at least one other diary, that I couldn't locate, was presented on this subject before but at the rate I am receiving these types of emails about Barack, I am truly worried AND disgusted.

And I'm getting these from one of my sisters, a life-long democrat.  I am truly beside myself. She is going to vote for McBush, if Obama gets the nod from our party and I wonder how representative she is of other democrats in the New England area where these things seem to have more legs than a centipede.

I have received some previous ugly emails from her & have asked her to stop forwarding them to me but, to be honest, I read a diary here:   http://www.dailykos.com/... that looked into the senate records of both Hillary & Barack & sent it to her in hopes that she might benefit from a truthful look at the candidates.

From their website, the church?s core mission is a ?non-negotiable commitment to Africa, and seeing the world through an African perspective.? **This mission apparently lacks any reference to the U.S., God or Jesus.

Blogger Ed Laskey quotes Wright as saying, ?The Israelis have illegally occupied Palestinian territories for almost 40 years now,? And routinely compares Israel to apartheid South Africa and considers blacks ?The Chosen People?. Just last December, Wright gave extremist Louis Farrakhan the church?s Lifetime Achievement Trumpeteer Award. **Farrakhan is known for calling Judaism a ?gutter religion? And depicting Jews as ?white devils,? ?bloodsuckers?.

Wright also once traveled with Farrkhan to Tripoli to visit Col. Muammar al-Gaddafi, a known terror supporter.

George Soros, multibillionaire promoter of groups that have been consistently harsh and biased critics of the American-Israel relationship, supports Obama. A 2004 Accuracy in Media article by Cliff Kincaid, says Soros ?was convicted in France of insider trading and specializes in weakening or collapsing the currencies of entire nations for his own selfish interests.?

James Zogby, one of Obama?s campaign advisors, is the founder of the Arab American Institute and senior analyst with the Zogby polling firm. Discoverynetowrks.org says Zogby has ?repeatedly denounced Israelis and Jewish-Americans, while voicing support for a string of violent terrorist groups in the Middle East and elsewhere.?

Zbigniew Brzezinski, the ex-national security adviser to Jimmy Carter, is Obama?s foreign policy adviser. Politico.com quotes Dr. Arie Kacowicz of the Hebrew University, saying that Brzezinksi has ?a history of certain hostility towards Israel, as seen in the first Camp David meetings of 1978.?

According to news24.com, Obama continues to have a strong relationship with his cousin, Ralia Odinga, head of Kenya?s Orange Democratic Movement who recently ran for President of Kenya.

And midnightsun.org says when Obama went to Kenya in August of 2006, he was hosted by Raila and spoke in praise of him at rallies in Nairobi. The site also says Obama?s bias for Odinga was so blatant that a Kenya government spokesman denounced Obama during his visit as Raila?s ?stooge.? **Note - when Raila Odinga lost the presidential election at the end of December 2007, he claimed the vote was rigged and his tribal followers went on murderous rampages. Dozens of people were burned to death in a church set on fire on New Years Day.

If Obama?s ties to controversial extremists isn?t a WAKE UP call for all Americans, I don?t know what is.

SAVAGE POLITICS? UNBIASED?? This piece of crap could have come right from the Rush Limbaugh or Karl Rove school of political strategy. And after googling discovernetowrks.com (the source for the Zogby smear), I find a particularly icky individual named Debbie Schlussel.  Wiki says:

Schlussel's columns have been published in the New York Post, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Times, The Jerusalem Post, amongst others. She was host of "The Debbie Schlussel Show" between 2002 and 2003 and makes regular television and radio appearances.

According to her account, invited speaker Louis Farrakhan made an incendiary and anti-American speech at the mosque and was greeted by 'frenzied applause and wild cheering'.[8]

Schlussel achieved some notoriety because of an editorial in the Wall Street Journal accusing Morgan Spurlock (who produced the documentary series "30 Days" and film Super Size Me) of unbalanced and faulty methods in achieving the results for the television show, mirroring many criticisms that some people have of his movie.[9][10] Spurlock did not respond to the article.

   * Schlussel often discusses Muslims in her political columns. The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee considers her work "racist hate speech" and has a section on her in its 2002 Hate Crime report.[11]
   * During and following the captivity of American journalist Jill Carroll, Schlussel attacked Carroll, alleging that Carroll hated Israel and America, and implying that she sympathized with her captors.[12][13] When objection was raised,[14] she attacked her critics as well, deriding them as "blind worshippers of Jill Carroll" in need of "LASIK." [15]
   * Schlussel's claim that WNBA player Anna DeForge is a bad role model because she is a lesbian drew criticism from player Kayte Christensen in an Arizona Republic column.[16]
   * Schlussel has been cited by progressive media watchdog Media Matters seven times regarding accusations of Schlussel spreading misinformation[17]. Schlussel has responded by called Media Matters "nazi-collaborators"[18].

So, here's the thing.  If this smear against Obama isn't closet racism rearing its ugly head, why are seemingly loyal dems spreading this crap.  Cripes I hate saying this about one of my sisters but I am at a loss as to  know what the heck to do about it? I also am so rattled that I could be giving way too much credence to this.  I'm hoping, with the poll attached, to find out that not many of us have been seeing these types of things.
