Let me be very clear about this

When the mealy mouth media spends the first third of the debate asking asinine questions about Avery, Rev Wright, Bosnia, Bittergunchurchgate...

MSM does not mean mainstream media

Mon Apr 14, 2008 at 11:02:35 PM PDT

So many of us are sick and tired of our current media giants being labeled the MSM.  There's simply nothing mainstream about them.  They pander, slander, and are about as unbiased in their news coverage as we would be telling people about our children.

OK, I am officially disgusted

Mon Feb 25, 2008 at 08:19:41 AM PDT

I know at least one other diary, that I couldn't locate, was presented on this subject before but at the rate I am receiving these types of emails about Barack, I am truly worried AND disgusted.

The Art of Cronyism

Tue Mar 27, 2007 at 12:50:01 PM PDT

By now you've heard that the head of the Smithsonian, Lawrence Small, was yesterday forced to resign (my emphasis).

What you may not know is that the former, late, Chief Justice Rehnquist was chair of the Board of Regents that put Small in his position in 2000.  As is the case with:  multiple choice, you pick... (almost all), (many), (too many to count), (every friggin one) of the Republic candidates elevated to high positions, his credentials and history are suspect.

Moschella...the hatchet man

Mon Mar 19, 2007 at 11:37:58 AM PDT

Meet William Moschella:  Assistant to John Ashcroft & Alberto Gonzales.

It's helpful to see just what he's been up to during his illustrious career as "DOJ/Corruption Protector-in-Chief hatchet man".

Oprah...Smack Down

Sat Feb 24, 2007 at 12:22:10 AM PDT

Just in case you missed it, liar & divider estraordinaire Bill O'Leilly was a (remote) guest on Oprah a coupla days ago.  The topic:  Abused Children.

Pick yourself up off of the floor for a show recap & to see what her legions on the Oprah MBoards thought about it.

We're Up!

Thu Nov 02, 2006 at 10:09:12 PM PDT

...just now listening to the local news in Boise; on the most conservative of the TV Stations, and we're up.  In the 1st District, Democrat Grant leads (fricken compassionless) Sali by 5% with 25% (phew, pretty high but not bad news, necessarily) undecided.

For Governor, Democrat Brady is leading Otter by 4% with 20% undecided.

We can't let osama win

Fri Sep 29, 2006 at 03:37:17 AM PDT

Partial text of osama speech, November 1, 2004

All that we have mentioned has made it easy for us to provoke and bait this administration. All that we have to do is to send two mujahidin to the furthest point east to raise a piece of cloth on which is written al-Qaida, in order to make the generals race there to cause America to suffer human, economic, and political losses without their achieving for it anything of note other than some benefits for their private companies.

We're going to continue throwing their own words back at them

Sat Aug 12, 2006 at 10:43:37 AM PDT

Taking a page from Cheney's playbook wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing for the Dems as we approach the interim elections and beyond.  And since be believes that it is quite effective to "keep throwing their words back at them", it would behoove us to do the same.

November 16, 2005
Text of Remarks By Vice President Dick Cheney (As prepared for delivery)

And the suggestion that's been made by some U.S. senators that the President of the United States or any member of this Administration purposely misled the American people on pre-war intelligence is one of the most dishonest and reprehensible charges ever aired in this city.

The President and I cannot prevent certain politicians from losing their memory, or their backbone - but we're not going to sit by and let them rewrite history.

We're going to continue throwing their own words back at them. snip

Playbook page #32.  Use the word 'reprehensible' when referring to those that call us out on our lies; because calling them liars, well, would be a lie...not that there's anything wrong with telling lies, mind you, when the end justifies the means.

Have you seen this?

Sun May 21, 2006 at 12:41:19 AM PDT

I hate to just post and run...and I'm not, actually, but I've been gone for a week and found this on the DOJ website.  I apologise if it's old news; if it's not, holy moses, it has been revealed.

Do you remember your promise, Senators?

Sun Jan 29, 2006 at 08:28:39 PM PDT

IS THERE ANYTHING THAT YOU FEEL IS WORTH FIGHTING FOR?

I remember Roberts.  Did we have sufficient facts to know him?  Wasn't most of his history blocked from our view or explained  away because he worked for Justice?  Good move for them and good cover. What could we do; filibuster a ghost opinion?

Didn't all of you say that the SCOTUS was the mother of all battles and the tipping point that could change us as a country forever?  Well, duh, you were right.

It is the tipping point and on top of that we have the benefit of CJ Roberts' first decision; with the 6 to 3 MINORITY, and with NO WRITTEN OPINION for anyone to review.

I've been holding my breath for weeks

Sat Jan 28, 2006 at 03:15:29 AM PDT

and thanks to just reading Senator Kerry's speech today, I've been able to take a deep breath.  Thank you Senator for expressing how I feel to your colleagues.  Thank you Hillary for joining.  Senator Byrd, you do not want this to be one of your most defining moments.

Motions for cloture fail.  It is not an uncommon event.  Yet for this lifetime appointment, the majority of our Senators have apparently decided that this matter is of secondary importance.  A judge, by all accounts, who decides in favor of a theoretical right to power for one branch of government over another, for the government's absolute domain over its individuals, for security purposes, and who holds such an extremely narrow view of the right to privacy, degradates the very fabric that holds us together and brought us together in the first place.

Filibuster and Fantasy

Sat Jan 21, 2006 at 10:43:04 PM PDT

Filibuster is a no-brainer.

The problem is, our party is analyzing the possible outcomes of a filibuster with the caveat that there is a choice.  There is no choice now about the Supreme Court.  Al knows it, John knows it, but they didn't anticipate an issue that would take precedence over abortion.

So let me understand this...my party leadership would absolutely, positively fight for abortion rights but when it comes to an American pResident dismissing Congressional oversight and reinterpreting our Constitution to expand his powers, they view the only opportunity to stop the confirmation of one, who is on record FOR expanding executive authority beyond the statutes, as a choice?   WTF are you thinking?
